Justin Lowe is a film critic and entertainment journalist with an emphasis on independent, international and documentary film who contributes to both print and online media outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, Filmmaker magazine and Creative Screenwriting, among other publications.
His reviews from the Sundance, Los Angeles, Hawaii International and San Francisco International Asian American film festivals, as well as DocuWeek LA and AFI Fest, have appeared in The Hollywood Reporter and been syndicated online by Reuters.
He also writes overall festival coverage for Filmmaker magazine, as well as feature articles on filmmakers and the independent film sector. His profiles on screenwriters appear regularly in Creative Screenwriting magazine and he has also contributed to FilminFocus.Com and MySpace.Com, as well as the weekly half-hour movie program Cinema AZN, formerly broadcast on AZN TV/Comcast.
A graduate of Hamilton College and UCLA's Professional Program in Screenwriting, he began his entertainment journalism career in the Bay Area, covering film for San Francisco's AsianWeek newspaper, SOMA magazine and Planet, as well as pioneering entertainment websites Channel A.com and Citysearch.com. His reporting on a variety of other topics has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Earth Island Journal, Mother Jones, In These Times and the San Francisco Bay Guardian.
