LOS ANGELES FILM CRITICS ASSOCIATION HONORS MAX VON SYDOW WITH CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Awards Voting Set For Sunday, December 3.

Los Angeles – October 30, 2017 -- The Los Angeles Film Critics Association has chosen Max von Sydow as the recipient of this year’s Career Achievement award. The prize will be given at the annual awards dinner to be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.

LAFCA’s other top awards will be decided by the membership on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, and those honorees will join von Sydow at the January dinner.

“We are thrilled to give the Career Achievement award to such a magnificently talented actor,” said LAFCA president Claudia Puig. “Over the six decades he’s commanded the screen, Mr. von Sydow has earned a reputation as the greatest living actor. Among his more than 100 roles, he has played characters as disparate as an assassin, a king, an exorcist, the devil and Jesus Christ—in several languages-- and has worked with filmmakers from around the world including Ingmar Bergman, Bertrand Tavernier, Sydney Pollack, Penny Marshall, Martin Scorsese, and Wim Wenders.

The 88-year-old Swedish-born actor will next be seen in Kursk, a drama about the submarine disaster of 2000, directed by Thomas Vinterberg and co-starring Lea Seydoux and Colin Firth.

Puig added: “From iconic roles in The Seventh Seal and Pelle the Conqueror to his most recent turns in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Game of Thrones, Max von Sydow remains a massively vital actor whose extraordinary work inspires us all.”
