HOW TO JOIN
Every year the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) accepts applications for new members. This year’s application period is from August 15-September 15, 2023.
Individuals applying for membership must be over twenty-one (21) years of age and living in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Applicants must be film critics actively publishing reviews throughout the year.
Applicants must also provide the following:
One (1) cover letter that confirms you meet our qualifications, and includes a list of publications that have carried your byline, a SHORT personal statement introducing yourself and describing your career, and any additional information you believe is relevant to your application.(Cover letters should be provided in .PDF format.)
Five (5) completed works of film criticism published within the last twelve (12) months prior to your date of application. While applicants are permitted to submit a review of any film, reviews of new releases are strongly encouraged. (Articles may be provided as links and/or attached in .PDF format.)
All applications must be submitted to LAFCAmembership@gmail.com prior to 11:59pm PDT on the final date of the application period.
Applicants who do not meet the listed criteria, and/or do not provide all of the application materials listed above, will not be considered. Applicants whose membership is considered will be notified via email about any decision before October 31, 2023. LAFCA reserves the right to refuse membership to any and all applicants.
